How does OziCall work?

Everyone has heard the expression there is no such thing as a free lunch. This is true of OziCall as well. We are not in the business of giving away free calls without receiving some compensation for our efforts.

So how does OziCall work?

Let’s start with your phone plan. You pay a carrier to have a mobile phone or a landline. While these companies may offer you an “unlimited” service, the reality is that you pay for every call you make. Even if you are on an unlimited plan, that just means the cost of all your calls is bundled together into one monthly fee.

When you dial out from your phone carrier’s home network to a different phone carrier, your carrier is paying that different carrier a fee to connect the call. This is something known as an interconnect fee and is a very basic concept in telecom billing.

So you pay for a call, your phone company pays to complete the call, and guess what? We here at OziCall get paid by the network our access numbers are on for every call that comes into us. The amount we get paid is slightly higher than our cost to deliver an international call, and that is how OziCall is able to offer you free international calling.

As always, there is no such thing as a free lunch. The good news is that instead of a free lunch, you are getting a tremendous way to save on international calling by essentially paying for a local call and not paying for the international portion of it.
