This means that your Voda to Voda, Optus to Optus, or 3 to 3 minutes will not work on our service.

No. You do not need to create an account, provide us with any personal information, or credit card information.

OziCall is a free service that does not require you to register at all. Anyone on a phone open to our services can use OziCall just by calling our access number. Many of our users have never been to this site, they just got our number from a friend and started calling in.

We offer another free international calling service in South Africa. If you have friends and family in South Africa looking for a cheap way to call you in Australia, you should recommend Call Star to them.

We would love to offer free calling to every country, but we can’t because of costs. The countries on this list are where the local phone systems offer extremely cheap network access to VOIP delivered calls. If additional countries lower costs for VOIP accessibility we will add them.

Talk Up FAQs

Talk Up requires you to use a landline phone to create your Talk Up account, and to add additional calling credit to it. OziCall will create a free Talk Up account for you and give you 5 free minutes of international calling when you charge up your account. To get started, follow these directions:

  1. Find a landline phone that you have regular access to that can call 1300 numbers. Talk Up uses your landline phone number as your account number so make sure this is a phone you will be using often. Don’t worry, you can always create a new free account from another phone number later on.
  2. Get a pen and paper to write down your account number, then dial 1300 721 478. Listen to our welcome prompt, and wait a moment while we create your new account. Every new account comes with 5 minutes of free Talk Up credit.
  3. Need more credit? Hang up and call the number again. Listen to the menu and select the option to add more Talk Up minutes. Call over and over again to charge up your account.

If you get this error when you call one of our 1300 Talk Up numbers, hang up and dial again using 1832 at the start of the number. For instance dial 1832 1300 721 478. This will unblock your phone, send the caller ID to us, and allow Talk Up to work from your phone.

Ozi Call provides international long distance calling for free, however you are responsible for the cost of the call from your phones to our numbers.

The free portion of our service is the international leg of the call. We are giving you a free international call to a destination outside of Australia. You are responsible for the costs of calling our local Australia based numbers in order to make this free international call.

With Talk Up, there are two types of calls you need to make to use the service:
1. Calls to our 1300 Talk Up numbers
2. Calls to our Sydney and Melbourne access numbers.

Talk Up 1300 numbers are only accessible from a landline. You may be charged a per call fee or a per minute free from your landline phone provider for calling our access numbers. It is very important that you personally figure out if you are paying a per call fee, a per minute fee, or if unlimited calling to 1300 numbers is included in your plan. To avoid bill shock, do not become a heavy user of Talk Up if you are paying by the call. It is better for you to find an alternative way to make international long distance calls.

Calls to our Sydney and Melbourne access numbers are normal geographic calls to landlines located in either city. Please be aware of whatever your costs are to call numbers there.

To use your Talk Up credit, you just need to do the following:

  1. Dial one of our access numbers from any phone:
    • Melbourne: 03 8820 5027
    • Sydney: 02 8015 5870
  2. Listen to the prompt, then enter your account number when we ask for it
  3. After you enter your account number, dial 0011 and your international destination starting with the country code
  4. Wait while we connect your call.

Yes. You can use your landline. You can use your mobile.

If you are using your mobile, you can use Optus, Telstra, Voda, 3, Virgin, Lyca, Lebara, and so on and so on.

Talk Up international calling works on any Australian phone. Just call our access number, enter your account number, and follow the instructions. Its that easy.

Yes and no.

Talk Up accounts are linked to the landline phone number that is calling the service. This means if you want to add credit to a specific Talk Up account, then you need to call into it from the landline the account is linked to. You will not be able to add Talk Up credit to one account from a new landline number.

The good news is that you can have more than one Talk Up account. We will create a new Talk Up account that will work just like your first one if you call in from a new landline. Just be sure to write down your new account number and keep it handy for future use.

To check your balance or account number, you need to dial 1300 721 478 from the landline that you created your Talk Up account on. When you call in, we recognize your account and let you manage it from there. Select the option for information about my Talk Up account and we’ll read you your balance and account number.

Yes. You can create new Talk Up accounts with 100 or 250 minutes of talk time by transferring a part of your existing Talk Up balance to the new account. To do this, dial 1300 721 478 and select option 8 or 9 in the menu. Make sure that you have a pen and paper handy before calling in because we will read the new account number off to you only during that call.

Transferring balances is a good way for you to create free calling cards for family and friends who might not unlimited calling to 1300 numbers on their landline phone plan.

If you want to add more Talk Up credit to an existing account and do not want to listen to any of our other menu options, then dial 1300 721 039. This number adds 5 minutes of Talk Up time to your account very quickly.

Yes. In order to prevent abuse and manage Talk Up properly, the following limits apply:

1. The maximum Talk Up balance you can have on an account is 2000 minutes.

2. Talk Up balances will expire 60 days after your last Talk Up balance charge up. To keep your balance, please add more credit before 60 days are up.

3. Transferred account balances must be used within 60 days of the new account being created.

4. International calls using Talk Up credit may be subject to rounding, maintenance, or connection fees which deduct from your minute balance. We will post those here should they be implemented.

If you are on a Standard Cap Plan (one of the $19-$79 ones), you will be charged a $0.35 flag fall and $1.20 per minute to call us. This is included in your monthly cap value. You are paying a slightly higher per minute rate than a standard mobile call ($1.20 vs $.90), but it does come out of your included monthly cap value so it is still much cheaper than international direct dial.

If you are on the Unlimited Cap Plan, you will be charged a $0.35 flag fall and $0.60 per 30 seconds to call us, but it is not included in your cap plan. You will be charged these additional fees on your monthly Vodafone bill.
